Changing Lives: Leequan’s Story

Leequan knew he was ready for more—a career where he could grow and build a future. A family member encouraged him to apply for an Industrial Service Technician opportunity at VLS Environmental Solutions, an employer partner of PA CareerLink® Lancaster County.

After applying, Leequan was offered the role—contingent on completing additional training to prepare him for success.  Elaine Box, Senior People & Culture Business Partner at VLS, recalled PA CareerLink® Lancaster County’s On-the-Job Training program and reached out to the Business Services Team to inquire about Leequan’s eligibility. A short time later, the team assessed that Leequan did qualify and he began a work experience that changed his career trajectory.

Leequan reports that he loves his new career and credits the PA CareerLink® Lancaster County team for helping him obtain it. “I’m happy because I didn’t have to change who I am. I can talk to everyone here, including the VP, as I would a friend. I’m looking to make a career here,” Leequan shared.
